What We Believe

Each item is an essential element of our belief pulled from the Nicene Creed. Below each essential is an explanation further exploring the core truth revealed in Jesus.

What does Redemption Church believe about gender, sexuality, and same sex marriage?

Redemption Church is a diverse faith community among which exist a spectrum of beliefs about questions related to human sexuality and gender identity—convinced our unity is not found in agreement around these questions but in the risen Jesus. We are also the Church home of LGBTQ people and believe those in the queer community have a right to know what they can expect from us in terms of belonging, involvement, leadership, and marriage. Our lead pastor, Brandon Alred, addressed these questions in a sermon you can hear on our podcast: LGBTQ+ Inclusion and the Church. We encourage anyone open to understanding our approach to these questions to take the time to listen to this sermon.

However, the bottom line is that no one at Redemption Church will be excluded from full participation in belonging, the sacraments, and leadership on the basis of their sexuality, gender identity, or theology surrounding this issue and we have pastors available to perform weddings for same-sex couples.
